On the cover: Trace Powell, age three, loves to play with his baby goats at Powell Ranch near Kalvesta, Kansas. He enjoys feeding them, taking them for walks, and playing "tag" with them through mud puddles. His parents, Kent and Linda Powell, and siblings, Jaelynn and Garrison, maintain a herd of 25 dairy goats for milk for bucket calves, and for showing. They also sell goat milk soap under the name, FriendShe Soaps.
Powell Ranch is well-known in far south-western Kansas for the production of registered Angus cattle (250 head), but the dairy goats have been a good addition to the farm and keep the children busy. The Powells raise Alpines, Nubians and Saanens. Photo by Linda Powell; 7barmfarms.com/PowellDairyGoats/.
